Description

Yes, I know, CORNY title, but it was the best I could come up with x)

So here are Faramir and Eowyn, because I love these two so much, and I've never tried to draw them before now so I really wanted to do them justice and draw them the way I saw them while reading the books!^^ Eowyn is perfect, by my estimate, but I messed a lot with Faramir's face, so that he looks this handsome is a surprise to me, and his hair just wouldnt work so i let it be... oh well!

I began sketching them earlier this week, and was so intrigued I had to make a proper drawing of them together.

I am so happy with the pose and the anatomy of this drawing, Im sure there are many mistakes but I do honestly not care because I love every part of it! And its the first proper drawing I've made in a month so that is pretty damn good!^^ I've been so uninspired, which has been PAINFUL because I've been so motivated to draw but with no proper motive or idea that is really really frustrating! So this was good one, a request from someone on tumblr in fact, so I am more than ever open for suggestions by anyone! I need ideas and I need them now! (tho a few weeks forth I will be heavy in exam mode, but trust me I will find a way to draw what I need no matter what!)

I can't decide if the strongest part of the work is Éowyn, or the shading: oh well, I'll discuss shading first. The shading is effective with lighter tones and then darker lines to delineate the figures. It was used effectively to show the folds on the clothing and the hair. The shading was also light enough to give the piece a "kind" feeling, rather than using harsh, dark pencilling.

Éowyn, as the artist remarked, is just about perfect. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/> Her anatomy and pose look believable, and her face is pretty enough to convince us that this is the attractive Shieldmaiden of Rohan. My only concerns would be her 1. elbow, and 2. maybe her lips a little too thick?

The Celtic line-work is a nice touch, and allows the illustration to feel complete. I also like the shapes representing their cultures.

Faramir's pose is also legitimate, as is his anatomy. I think his face looks fine, for a face: my qualm would be that since he is a warrior (and had recently been confined to bed), his face would be less round and have sharper angles instead.

Overall, nice work. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/>
